Generating your documents

Quick answer
Open Your documents, choose Review and generate on the document you want, read it through, tick the three confirmations, then press the Generate button. Nothing is produced until you press it. Generating is also the point at which the purchase becomes final, so review carefully first.

Before you start

Generating needs a completed purchase. Until then, the page shows what you will get and offers you a way to unlock it.

The steps

  1. Go to Your documents.

  2. On the document you want, choose Review & generate.

  3. Step 1 — Review your details. Read through what you have told us. If something is wrong, there is a link, Review all answers or make a change, that takes you back to your answers. Changes you make will be in the document you generate.

  4. What happens after you download. For your Will, and for a Power of Attorney or personal-care document if you added one, this step tells you how it has to be signed where you live. Please read it — it is short.

  5. Confirm & generate. Three boxes to tick:

    • "I've reviewed my answers and they're correct."
    • "I understand I still need to sign my document the way my province requires before it's legally effective."
    • "I understand these are real legal documents, not drafts or samples."

    All three have to be ticked before the button will work.

  6. Press Generate my Will — or Generate my Power of Attorney, depending on which document you are on.

Under the button the page says: "Nothing happens until you press this. Take your time." That is accurate. Nothing is produced, and nothing changes, until you press it.

When it is done

The page says your document is ready and gives you a Download PDF button. It is also saved to Your documents, so you can come back for it whenever you like.

Please review carefully first

Generating is the point at which the purchase becomes final. Once any document has been generated, the purchase is no longer refundable — that applies to the whole purchase, not only to the document you generated. The Refund Policy is the authority on this, and Requesting a refund explains how it works in practice.

So it is worth taking Step 1 slowly. There is no hurry, and nothing expires while you are reading.

Which documents work this way

Your Will, and a Power of Attorney or personal-care document if you added one, each go through this review-and-confirm screen. Your Life Discovery Kit, your Funeral Wishes Plan and your Estate Asset Checklist do not — they are built alongside and you simply open them.
