Using It's Simple Will from outside Canada
The short version
You can use It's Simple Will from outside Canada. What changes is when you pay, not whether you can.
Inside Canada, you build your will first and meet the price at the end, when you are ready to download. Outside Canada, you meet the price first and build afterwards. Same product, same price, same documents — the purchase simply sits earlier in the order.
What you see
If you open a building screen from outside Canada before you have paid, we take you to the purchase page with a short note at the top:
Buying from outside Canada. It looks like you're accessing from outside Canada. For customers outside Canada, payment comes first. Once your payment goes through, you'll have full access.
That is the whole of it. There is nothing to apply for and nothing to wait on — the purchase page is right there, and the moment it goes through the building screens open.
Once you have paid
After your payment, the order-of-payment difference stops applying to you entirely. You are simply a customer:
- You build, edit, generate and download exactly as any other customer does.
- You can sign in from wherever you are — at home, travelling, or after a move — and your account and your documents come with you.
- Your credits and your three-year update window work the same way. See How long your credits last.
- Everything in the bundle is yours. See What is included in the bundle.
We do not ask you where you live
There is no question anywhere in It's Simple Will asking what country you are in, and no box to tick about it. Our support team will not ask you either — it is not something we need to know, and it is not something we would act on.
The page order is worked out from the ordinary network information that arrives with any web request, the same information every website receives. It affects one thing: which screen you see before you have paid. Nothing else in the product reads it.
A word on what the documents are for
The wills and the supporting documents It's Simple Will produces are written for Canadian provincial and territorial law, and you choose the province your will is written to as you build. That is worth knowing wherever you are reading this from, because it is the question that actually matters for your estate — more than where you happened to be sitting when you opened the page.
If you are unsure whether a Canadian will is the right document for your situation, that is a good question to put to a lawyer in the place your estate would be dealt with.
If something does not look right
If you have paid and a screen still asks you to buy, start with A payment that did not unlock your documents, which covers the usual causes and what to do about each.
If that does not sort it out, open a request from inside your account and we will pick it up — see How support works.
This is a DIY-assisted will kit, not a law firm, and not legal advice — see our disclaimer.
